Although I enjoyed Mary Wilson's book "Dreamgirl," I enjoyed Tony Turner's book (All That Glittered) on the Supreme's more. Here is a excerpt: Florence Ballard got Tony a job as an unofficial assistant to the Supremes. One day, Tony was talking to their limousine driver, Phil. Diana came out of rehearsal and told Phil she wanted to go shopping, Phil asked, what about the other two ladies? Diana said, "they're not coming." Diana shot Tony a look that said, 'get lost kid.'
Tony went back into the rehearsal hall, Florence and Mary were coming down to the limo, Flo told Tony, 'we're going shopping, Diana's waiting for us.' Tony told Flo, she left. Flo asked, 'what do you mean she left? Tony said, "I was talking to Phil and she said you and Mary weren't coming." Flo was pissed.
Tony had to eventually hail a cab for Flo and Mary. When they confronted Diana later, she seemed edgy and said, 'I thought you girls were going to re-hearse. I didn't know, it was all a misunderstanding.' Flo just shook her head and rolled her eyes.
