Behind The Scenes

Lynn Claxon formed Stars Modeling
Agency in May of 1986. Little did she know, she would be launching the
most successful modeling agency in San Francisco.
Over the years, she has represented
or did direct booking for: Christy Turlington, Amber Valletta, Naomi Campbell,
Nicole Mitchell (Mrs. Eddie Murphy), Beverly Peele and Karen Collmer (Mrs. Ronnie
Lott).
I recently had the opportunity
to interview Lynn Claxon.
Q: How did you get started
in the modeling industry?
A: I was dissatisfied with
the way the modeling agencies operated in the 80's, I was determined to start
my own agency.
Q: What is your opinion of
modeling schools?
A: Modeling schools should
not be represented as an entry into this business. We have an open call
every Tuesday, anyone interested in modeling can simply walk in our door, at
no fee, no pictures, and we will give them an assessment.
Q: Who are your role models?
A: Eileen Ford, Ann Berbner,
Donna Karan, Gloria Steinem and Maya Angelou.
Q: What advice would you give
aspiring models?
A: Models fortunate enough
to obtain an agent, should understand this is a business and it's work.
It involves long hours, frequent rejection and preparation. This business
is so competitive, that nothing short of total commitment is required.
